Sander Teepen

BIOGRAPHY HIGHLIGHTS

During it’s tour in 2019 the Dutch Student Chamber Orchestra will be conducted by the talented and dynamic Sander Teepen.

When Sander was 8 years old he began playing the oboe. He studied at the Conservatory of Tilburg where he was taught by Herman Vincken. As a substitute player he has played with het Residentieorkest, het Gelders Orkest, Philharmonie Zuid-Nederland and many more. Sander is not unfamilair with the Dutch Student Chamber Orchestra as he was one of the soloist in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante during it’s tour in 2009 which was conducted by Ivan Meylemans.

It didn’t take long for Sander to be drawn to conducting and he soon started taking masterclasses with, amongst others, Jan Stulen, Otto Tausk, Paavo Jarvi en Leonid Grin. Since 2012 Sander has won several prices in the field of conducting. In 2012 he won the conducting competition of the MAV Symphonic Orchestra in Budapest, the jury-prize of the Blue Danube Opera competition in 2013, in 2014 he won the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra prize at the Jeunesses Musicales Bucharest and in 2015 he finished second at the Blue Danube Opera competition.

His successes at these competitions have led to numerous invitations in and out of the Netherlands. Sander has been a guest conductor with het Residentie Orkest, het Metropole Orkest, het Gelders Orkest, het Noord Nederlands Orkest and Philharmonie Zuid-Nederland. Nowadays he is appointed assistent-conductor at the Radio Philharmonic Ochestra and in 2019 Sander will make his debut with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.
